IT\'S HERE: Class Action Suit Against Merck over Propercia

#21

» » » » » Perhaps THIS is the real reason the makers of Avodart didn’t
» bother
» » to
» » » » seek
» » » » » approval for their drug for hair loss.
» » » » » » class action law firms.
» » » »
» » » » I’m sure they did a cost-benefit analysis of selling Avodart as a
» hair
» » » » drug, and when they factored-in the possibility of scum sucking
» » lawyers
» » » and
» » » » their clients with real or imaginary side-effects, they decided too
» » much
» » » » aggravation and gave it up.
» » »
» » » I heard DHT is important for brain function and prevents Alzheimers.
» » Also
» » » from some of the online forums people say that Propecia causes brain
» fog
» » » and depression.
» » »
» » » I honestly dont mind killing my libido. But i dont want man boobs,
» brain
» » » fog, and depression.
» »
» » I heard that Elvis it is working on McDonalls, so it is truth ?
» » Propecia ( just propecia, without counting the generic versions and the
» » people that use proscar ) sold 500 millions dollars in 2010 .
» » About the braing fog, guess what ? Finasteride only inhibit the type 1
» of
» » 5-alphareductase which it is not present in the brain !!! that simple
» tell
» » you all, so even if this drug enter into the brain ( not all drugs do it
» )
» » it will not cause any dht withdraw there. Besides, 80 guys !? lol, there
» » are at least 30 millions user of this drugs worldwide.
» » Then people ask why they do not found the cure for hair loss, simple
» cause
» » this kind of crap .
» » Besides, this is hair multiplication forum, so who care about this post
» ?
» » I really do not undestand people that thing that everything they read on
» » the net it is truth.
» » There are dumb people , and there placebo effect, put both things
» together
» » and you will be hearing the craziers side effects ever.
»
»
» 80 people is actually quite a large investigation. I would have thought it
» was less… Do you realize how expensive these things are?

lol, it is not a clinical trial. they just put together 80 asshholes to could do a lawsuit. That 80 % represent 0,000000000000000000000001 % of the users of finasteride, lol. So even if they are right , sure that the problem is in their fuchked up bodies and not in the drug.

» I will say that I have experienced and continue to experience sever side
» effects due to propecia. I’ve had a decreased libido, ejacualtion that
» doesn’t go as far, depression, etc. I have not imagined these side effects
» and saw numerous drs. about them.
»
» Besides, it is pretty telling that Merck changed the labeling in some
» countries to warn of permanent sexual side effects. It is obviously not
» imaginary as some ppl here think.
lol, with the place effect you can espect everything.
No that you stoped, you are a millionary and a super porn actor ? or you should blame finasteride about that too;-) , yeah, yep, sure, is cause the braig fog, if not , you shoul be Eisten.

» » You will see that several sexual side effects were significant.
» »
» » http://www.drugs.com/pro/propecia.html
» »
»
» I bet you posted that link without even reading it.
»
» Discontinuation due to drug-related sexual adverse experiences
» Propecia : 1.2%
» Placebo : 0.9%

» The result is NOT statistically significant.
»
» "Like all prescription products, Propecia may cause side effects. In
» clinical studies, side effects from Propecia were uncommon and did not
» affect most men. A small number of men experienced certain sexual side
» effects… Each of these side effects occurred in less than 2% of men.
» These side effects went away in men who stopped taking Propecia. They also
» disappeared in most men who continued taking Propecia."

Exactly, The problem is that some people could not believe that they are in that 2 %, if this happen to them it should happen to everydody else. lol

» Suit is being brought against Merck Canadas. Someone needs to get one going
» in the U.S. One of Canada’s top class action firms has taken the case so
» there must be something to it.
»
»

»
» VANCOUVER, Jan. 24, 2011 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) – Lawsuit filed for
» men who suffer sexual dysfunction after using hair loss drug.
»
» A class action was filed today in the Supreme Court of British Columbia by
» Vancouver resident, Michael Miller, against Merck Frosst Canada and its
» affiliated companies. The lawsuit has been brought on behalf of Canadian
» men who used Propecia or Proscar and suffered continuing sexual
» dysfunction.
»
» Propecia and Proscar are prescribed as a cosmetic treatment for male
» pattern hair loss also known as androgenic alopecia. The product monograph
» discloses that some men may experience sexual dysfunction but states that
» the symptoms disappear after cessation of the drug.
»
» Mr. Miller, who is in his early 20s, was concerned when his hair started to
» thin in some areas. He was prescribed Proscar which he hoped would stop his
» hair from thinning. After about a month of use he noticed a drastic change
» in his behaviour, “I lost my interest in sex and I felt anxious in social
» situations for no particular reason,” he says. While on the drug, his
» symptoms of sexual dysfunction increased as the months passed. When he
» could no longer bear the side effects, he stopped using Proscar but these
» symptoms didn’t go away: “My sexual functioning has not recovered, I have
» seen specialists and have tried treatments but nothing has worked,” says
» Mr. Miller.
»
» According to Mr. Miller’s lawyer, David Klein, “The product labels have
» been changed in several European countries to include a warning of
» persistent erectile dysfunction after discontinuation of the drug but this
» change has not been made on the Canadian product labels.” It is alleged
» that the drug manufacturers failed to adequately warn Canadians of the true
» risks.
»
» Klein also says, “So far, more than 80 Canadian men have expressed an
» interest in participating in the class action. We believe there are many
» other men who will come forward now that the case has been filed in court.”
»
»
» Mr. Miller is represented by Klein Lyons, one of Canada’s most experienced

This begs the question-why has it been only recently researchers have been pursuing a more intelligent coarse than going with drugs that block DHT in body and creating drugs that go after the androgen receptors themselves? I mean,I can fully understood why no-one has been completely successful to date in coming up with a treatment that regrows hair on a near completely bald scalp but I CAN’T understand why since all of these conditions (acne, enlargement of the prostate, prostate cancer, and mpb) could at least be stopped with a drug that just goes after the receptors by now.Dermatology has to be one of-if not the most backward of the medical sciences for sure!
» class action law firms.

» First of all you said that the placebo arm actually showed more sexual side
» effect numbers than the test group.
»
» in your reply in this thread relating to a class action on sexual side
» effects: “it turned out the people on placebo reported a greater incidence
» of side effects than those on propecia.”

I said there is a large scale study which shows the above. The study isn’t listed on the link because there are numerous studies on Finasteride. I will dig it up when I have some time.

1.2% vs 0.9% is not statistically significant. Meaning there is no mathematical proof that either propecia or placebo have any effect.

You would see a statistical significance if for example 10% of people on propecia had sexual problems but only 0.9% of placebo did and this was reflected in many not just one study.

Where is the proof that propecia has wide scale sexual side effects. This guy is mass posting to numerous formus to whip up hysteria and gain participants for his lawsuit.

Again, there are people that said that nizoral is dangerous!!! lol . People are dumb and lawyers feed with them. It will be a surprise is we see another hair loss treatment in the next ten years ( remember that Propecia was approved 13 years ago ! ). So is not the labs the one to blame, is the dumb regular joe that start to scream that his live is miserable cause the treatment, if not, he should be the happiest guy on earth ! lol, wonder why he used in the first place.
Labs just want money and not legal troubles .
This lawsuit, is just a reflection of how silly the world is. 80 lunatics ! that represent nothing, if this drugs was really a poison , there should be 800000 people at least !
The funiest part is , how you proove that after stoped finasteride you still have "side effects " cause it ? it is simple imposible cause there is not science behind it, even if low dht gave you problem, after stop the drug, your dht will get back to normal.

look this average joe post : http://www.propeciahelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=21
The admin post and study , telling that there are a Report - U.S. FDA Adverse Drug Reactions to Finasteride/Propecia. He posted a resume " Also reports of Oestrogen (Estrogen) increase, sperm motility decrease, liver function abnormalities, anxiety, depression… and of course impotence and erectile dysfunction, all symptoms we can identify with. …" THEN a poster read the entire Report and posted “Have you noticed the ages of some of these sufferers? From what I have seen, many are 60-70+ years old” And what the admin does ? lock the post ! nobody else could post ! this simple show how the average joe thinkgs and the ones that blame everything to finasteride are simple idiots. You know, of the average population, the % of sexual troubles after 60 ? 50-70 % !!! and that is why in less than 10 years 4 medicines to treat erection problems were approved by the fda.

It doesn’t matter there are only 80 people, the lawyers will make tons of $$$$ if the win, they have every motivation to make a case out of nothing even if the chance of winning the case is slim, it’s like playing the odds, you ever watched the movie Erin Brockovich?

These types of lawsuits will serve to deter any efforts towards finding a cure for this miserable disease called baldness. More FDA bullsh&t will come down the pipe and we will remain bald for the rest of our lives.

The research money meanwhile gets diverted to lawyers.

There is a pamphlet that comes with every bottle of propecia and its printed on the label too. All drugs are required to disclose their potential side effects which in the studies affect a small number of participants. If these jokers did not READ the information and weigh the risk prior to popping the first pill, why are they complaining now.

Look on youtube and you will see one guy spamming almost ALL baldness related videos about Propecia being dangerous and side effects. These fools who go around with lawsuits and panic mongering have only one aim in mind - to cause mass hysteria and possibly to sell their snake oil.

Actually, point I was making was if the research community viewed mpb as another androgen related condition (although not potentially fatal like prostate cancer) maybe they would have set out years ago to first and formost research a drug that knocks out the androgen receptors and at least another generation wouldn’t have to go through the loss of their hair in the first place. This is the 21st century it’s about time hair loss treatments are brought along with it!
