"Is Histogen Hair to Stay?" - Article

By the way …

» The initial experiment testing the HSC treatment was done in Honduras.
» Naughton says there were no safety issues “clinically or histologically.”
» She says Histogen is expected to report results from a 1-year follow-up of
» the Honduras study by the end of this month [January 2010], and the one-year data will be
» submitted to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery’s
» professional journal
.

Sorry guys, I just noticed a mistake, resp. the presentations above are just so called “Poster Presentations”. The “Program Presentations” resp. “Program Sessions” didn’t changed - at least it seems so …

Upcoming Events
Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) Annual Meeting
May 5-8, 2010
Atlanta, GA
Dr. Jonathan Mansbridge to present “Clinical Evaluation of Embryonic-like Fibroblast Secreted Proteins to Induce Hair Growth”

They answered to me!!!

Dear Riccardo,

Thank you for your interest and message. We actually did not make any announcements around the Hilton Head Conference in March, however we do have some upcoming. Histogen has recently completed the 1 year follow-up of the preliminary clinical trial of HSC for hair regrowth, and will be announcing those results in April, in conjunction with the Society for Investigative Dermatology (SID) Annual Meeting.
In addition, Histogen is preparing for the start of the next clinical trial of HSC, which is scheduled to begin in Singapore late this year.

American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting
April 17-21, 2010
Washington, D.C.
Emmett Pinney to present poster entitled “Coating polymers with a human extracellular matrix (hECM) significantly improves implant biocompatibility”

Hmm - what? Seems Dr. Naughton is a little bit confused (and she tries to confusing me?) because they definitely announced this event on their page …

Hmm - what? Seems Dr. Naughton is a little bit confused (and she tries to confusing me?) because they definitely announced this event on their page …
First Dr. Naughton doesn’t reply to general email inquires. That duty’s usually handled by Eileen Naughton Brandt (I’m assuming she’s Dr. Naughton’s daughter).

Second it sounds like their trial has-been postponed because last I heard trials were slated for the early part of 2010… that’s aggravating.

LOL, I thought Eileen was Dr. Naughton!!

Yes I think that a little late is not a big problem, anyway I’m waiting for a good news in april…
only one week
I cross my fingers!

She said they’re completing followup to initial clinical trial, and that another is coming later this year. So, going by these words, it would mean that there has already been two trials, with one more coming. Is the one later in 2010 phase III?

Who knows. Its pretty obvious these guys are hanging on by a string. They’re going to say anything to keep the funding coming. Shades of ICX. Time to remove this one from the “serious” list of possible near-term protocols. Its Aderans or nothing for at least the next five years.

The sad thing is their technology worked to some degree and they got killed over some stupied lawsuit. Wish it never happened but it did. It’s really quite ridiculous when you think about it these sharks came in for no good reason except spite. It’s especailly sinister because it could have made a difference in peoples lives.

I’m not agree with you pessimism, I’ve no reason for believe that they are “hanging on by a string”.
I think their treatment works otherwise they would not have any financings

Hopfully your right though It doesn’t look good at this point. One way to be certain would be to find out if they won their case or not. That is really important and they don’t seem to want to talk about it now. Is their time in court over now, does anyone know? I emailed them about it and they haven’t answered me about it yet. Though just going to court alone “could” have bankrupted them… They also could be misleading people in hopes to get more $.

I don’t know honestly if they still do have sufficient funding right now. I swear I remeber someone saying their investors pulled out. I’m going to try and find out more searching the web.

2/24/09 - A patent infringement lawsuit filed last month against Histogen has triggered a funding crisis at the San Diego biomedical startup, which was forced to lay off all 36 of its employees at the end of January.

Histogen founder and CEO Gail Naughton told me this afternoon the suit filed by rival SkinMedica of Carlsbad, CA, prompted a group of angel investors to withdraw their planned $2.4 million investment in Histogen at the end of January. The ensuing funding crisis has been playing out behind the scenes at Histogen, even while Naughton reported promising findings on the startup’s experimental hair regrowth treatment last week at the 4th Annual Stem Cell Summit in New York.
