Hair transplant and Acell

ACell is currently being tested to regrow hair. There are a few hair transplant physicians in the U.S. that are experimenting with Acell. There are no hair growth results as of now. At the moment, it is used for the management of wounds. Specifically management of partial and full-thickness wounds, trauma wounds (abrasions, lacerations, second-degree burns, and skin tears), and draining wounds. Acell may help with donor healing and hair growth sometime in the future.

CIT is Dr. Cole one of the doctors experimenting with Acell?

Really? You must have chanced upon the hair multiplication forum and decided to enlighten everyone in the transplant forum! Since you work for Dr. Cole, I’m thrilled you decided to inform us of Dr. Cole’s involvement with acell!

It’s interesting at least. Worth mentioning. Dr. Cole is more than likely experimenting w/ acell. Whatcha think will happen to the HT industry when acell starts producing hair?

Brock Landers,

Yes. It is worth mentioning since Acell and hair multiplication are two different processes. The purpose of Acell is to minimize scar tissue, possibly grow hair, and it involves using material from the urinary bladder of a pig. We just want to let prospective hair transplant patients know that Acell, hair multiplication, and hair transplant don’t share as many similarities as most individuals think. We have yet to see significant results with Acell at this point. There is less than a hand full of patients being treated, but even fewer patients have received Acell treatment in the recipient area. We are still waiting for a significant result in patients who want hair restoration. Right now, Acell is actually being performed on animals and there are significant results in these case studies. We know that animals heal better with the treatment. That said, at least we can have some hope for the future of repair & hair restoration.
