Hair Loss - The 5 major causes nongenetic Reason

» Yes, I will check out Vitacost again, hopefully their customer service has
» improved. Years ago, they gave me the huge run around, after being sent
» the wrong supplement. Since then, I have been using iHerb.

i Am ordering some curcumin

also a big order of my regimen since i have been out for about a year
also for my mother in law
Vit E, and Omega 3, for stroke prevention, surprised that vit E supplements lower stroke risk by that high a percentage…(50 percent)

You got a study for that??

glad you brought this up
I had been looking on a website for stroke prevention and Omega 3, which I know is true
and it brought up vitamin E and the up to 50 percent…figure

now that I google stroke Vitamin E
it says recent studies have shown it has no effect on cardio disease or stroke
interesting

Now I find a lot of sites saying that certain forms of Vitamin E may prevent cell and neuron death AFTER a stroke
will do some more reading

Then be sure to get some resveratrol as well. Country Life makes a good, inexpensive one.

Resveratrol works synergistically with curcumin to improve the effect of both. Clinical studies have proven this. I have used curcumin by itself in the past, and it didn’t do anything for my hair that I could see.

Also, I as well as other posters who use curcumin have experienced some constipation. MSM helps to “loosen things up.”

The Natural, when do you take curcumin & resveratrol combo (before breakfast/lunch?)?

LL.

LL, I take curcumin (500 mg.) and resveratrol (trans-resveratrol 200 mg.) once in the morning with yogurt. By the way, I recently added vitamin D (1000 mg.), after reading this:

The Natural, that’s very interesting - thanks for the link and the reply. I do not take D3 supplements, since I either eat oily fish (salmon/mackerels are cheap here) or take cod liver oil every day. A good way to get vit D and Omega3 at the same time.

By the way have you ever tried Kefir instead of yogurt? I prepare mine daily using organic goat or cow’s milk. The taste is quite strange at first, but very nice when mixed with berries and honey. The results are amazing - I used to have terrible stomach upsets, but not since I started this stuff.

Been reading some good things about kefir recently. Looks interesting. I’ll check it out, thanks.

There are several factors which are cause hair loss, I think smoking is also one of them. Stress is vital factor for hair loss. We often spend a lot of time either thinking about how to wear it or taking care of it. Hair care products are a large industry. So try it which is best for you.

» Most people think that hair loss is a genetic condition. This is, perhaps,
» the most widely-accepted reason for losing hair. But the truth is, a
» parent’s genes are just one of the many factors that could cause the loss
» of hair. There are many other factors that could attribute to hair loss:
»
» 1. Hormonal Imbalance
»
» The level of hormones (especially in a woman’s body) could play a great
» role on whether or not an individual would experience hair loss. Many women
» have noticed that hair loss ensues at about three months after giving
» birth. The level of hormones for pregnant women could be so high that the
» hairs that would normally fall out are retained. This, however, would
» result into a massive hair loss when the hormone levels decrease after
» giving birth.
»
» 2. Chemotherapy
»
» Cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy have to use drugs that are
» specifically designed to attack both the good and bad cells. When this
» happens, all types of cells (including cells on hair follicles and roots)
» are subjected to the same level of attack as the deadly cancer cells. This
» results in hair loss on the patient’s scalp and even on the underarm, leg,
» and pubic areas. Chemotherapy is so strong that even eyebrows and eyelashes
» would fall out.
»
» Currently, there is no treatment for hair loss caused by chemotherapy.
» Most people believe that they could slow down the process of hair loss if
» they place an ice pack on the affected scalp. This might be able to help
» but most people also feel much discomfort while placing an ice pack on
» their scalp. Besides, too much cold applied to the scalp could result into
» cancer on that region.
»
» It could take a month or more after the last chemotherapy session before
» the hair fall stops. This condition could range from rapid hair loss to
» gradual hair fall, and this is depending on the present condition of the
» patient.
»
» 3. Lack of Biotin
»
» Biotin is an essential element for hair growth and strength. On the
» absence of this element, the body hairs weaken and gradually would fall
» off. The only way to cure hair loss on this condition would be to take
» biotin once more. Biotin could be taken as a food or dietary supplement. If
» you would want to stock up on biotin, better start eating liver and egg
» yolks (two types of food that have high biotin content).
»
» 4. Infection
»
» Having dandruff can be a cause of hair loss. When this condition is
» prolonged, the hair follicles and the scalp are weakened by the fungi that
» cause this condition. Also, there are certain fungal and bacterial
» infections that can cause hair loss. Infections such as these are common
» among children. The treatments include anti-fungal and anti-bacterial
» medicines.
»
» 5. Exposure to Heat & Excessive Hair Pulling
»
» Styling can be fun but when the hair becomes stressed by such an activity,
» it’s time to give it a rest. Hair blowers should not be constantly used as
» exposure to heat would cause the hair in the scalp to become brittle and
» eventually fall out. Conditioners and other moisturizers could be used to
» treat severely damaged hair and, to some degree, falling
» hair.Hairloss-Causes provides variety of tips related to hair loss causes,

Medical Scientists believe that MPHL (Male Pattern Hair Loss) is due to two reasons. First is inherited from the either sides of the family. Second is due to biological chemical called a dihydrotestosterone, commonly referred as DHT. DHT is a biological material in the body, which shrinks the hair follicle.

Male pattern hair loss is a widespread situation, where men encounter disappearing of hair on the scalp. This also results in receding hairline or balding on the scalp area of the head. There is a need to find a medicine that stabilizes the overall DHT level and help stop follicles.

I’m 40 and have a hair loss problem since last 5 yrs. I tried many drugs, shampoos, gels and creams and finally Propecia Finasteride worked for me. Generic Propecia contains the active ingredient Finasteride, a type II 5-alpha reductase drug that restricts the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. It certainly has some side effects. I too had experienced side effect like decreasing sexual desire in the beginning but as my body got used to it slowly, the side effect disappeared.

After year and a half, today I am satisfied with the result.

My wife lost some of her hair after she had been hospitalized for about a month with pneumonia and ARDS. She was in a coma and they had given her many different medicines over the length of the stay to try to beat her infections. I’m sure the medicines were part of the reason as well as malnutrition and overall stress to the body. A lot of her hair fell out for about six months after she was hospitalized. It eventually grew back though as she regained her strength and health.
