Dear goata007,
you haven´t contributed to your original thread for several days and you haven´t e-mailed me or Willy personally. So I wonder, if you are still interested in starting a non-profit corporation? Without your support Willy won´t be able to start such a project in the USA!
Best wishes
Andreas

All the best scientists have been recruited by either Aderans or Intercytex or Follica already. You will have a hard time finding the brains for the project even if you have all the money in the world.
Dear Andi,
It’s not looking too promising. We’ve only had a few people show support. Even though they have made substantial pledges, I believe we need a large show of support to get something up an going.
I’m disappointed. I really hoped that with the large number of people here, we could put our heads together and come up with something to expidite a treatment. Whether it was money, or whatever, I really hoped that we could accomplish something. I had brought this idea up several years ago and it was rejected then too. I just hope that I’m not wishing we had gotten something up and going 10 years from now. If we had started a project like this 10 years ago, I believe that we could have an impact on hair loss research today. (I really believe that). If over a thousand people had been contributing a few hundred dollars per year for the last ten years (plus interest-if invested wisely) we could have a substantial amount of money by now. Furthermore, if we had accomplished this, maybe it would have gotten some media attention (or at least additional attention on other hair loss forums) and we may have a huge amount of money by now. Who knows, maybe we could have been the partner that ICX is looking for or at least have been a major investor who could demand to see detailed results of the research.
By the way (as someone else accused me of), I don’t have unrealistic expectations in mind. But, realistically, if each of us had contributed 250 dollars per year (with over a thousand members) we would have over 2.5 million dollars worth of contributions over that last ten years. If that money were put into a good investment for the last 10 years, it may have gone up to 4-5 million dollars by now. (Financial people can correct me if I’m wrong). In addition to this, maybe we would have gotten the attention of the media with this large sum of money and attracted donations from many more. That money could have been multiplied exponentially. Furthermore, I bet that many would have contributed more than 250 if the project were actually in place. Several people have already made comments that they would make contributions that were in the thousands of dollars range.
250 dollars = about 5 dollars per week which is roughly the same cost as:
1 meal at McDonalds
1 beer at a NFL football game
1 pack of cigarettes
Less than 2 gallons of gasoline for your car (at least in US)
Average tip at a mid-priced restaurant (25 to 30 dollar bill)
Ect…
I don’t think that is much to give up to get your hair back!
Furthermore, if we were in the midst of developing the fund and a treatment/cure were released (before we made any offers with the money), I thought that it would be great to give to some other charity…such as St. Judes Hospital or Progeria research or something like that. We have been accused of being “selfish” for wanting our hair back when there are so many others who have worse problems. Wouldn’t it be ironic if us “selfish” guys on Hairsite were able to help others in need!!
Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be what’s going to happen. Hopefully, ICX finds a partner or Follica releases something in the near future. Goata and Benji seem to have some good ideas after reading the Follica patent. Maybe they are on to something. Keep your fingers crossed.
Take Care,
Bill

Why spend money on a startup when there are companies that have everything in place already doing anti aging research?

Sorry guys for not participating in that thread! I have been really busy with work-life plus that Follica/Herbal thing got me really excited so I’ve been spending my free time looking at herbal stuff - this time we may actually have a treatment.
Nonetheless, I’m definitely interested in this idea but lets NOT rush into anything yet. Its a good idea and I am personally ready to get involved in it, however, I’d like to try that herbal remedy first. Also, lets wait and see what Dr. Kemp has to say about recent Intercytex episode(JB mentioned Kemp is being interviewed by another site).
Bottomline, I’m still in it but don’t wanna rush anything just yet.

Steve, as I mentioned in your original thread…MPB is NOT an aging issue. I started balding at 18 and now at 26 I am NW6…how would that anti-aging drug grow my hair back?
Above all…that anti-aging drug/treatment is supposed to SLOW the aging process so you live longer…it WON’T reverse the aging!
