I have read that Propecia prevents BHT from growing. Do the doctors recommend using propecia after BHTs? Or should we discontinue use. Same with Rogaine.

I have asked the question a couple times and have not gotten a real response. I am hoping a doctor who actually PERFORMS BHTs can offer some guidance.

This really worries me.

I believe that BHTs work and the hair does grow, although maybe not as successfully.

My question pertains to the post-surgery treatment. Continue Propecia or discontinue it? That is my major concern. Please, people offer your guidance, especially those who have had BHTs and those that perform them. Dr. A or Dr. Umar??

Different hair (body, beard and permanent scalp donor hair), in different persons, respond differently to finasteride (propecia) usage.

While beard and scalp donor hair is mostly “immune” to the effects of finasteride, the effects may differ for the body donor hair in different people.

For a subset of people, use of finasteride will decrease body hair growth. Therefore, if using finasteride, its advisable to take it for a period of atleast 1 year and evaluate its effect on your body hair. If you notice reduction of body hair in this period, its advisable for you to NOT use body donor hair for transplant.

I have heard of this before. Dr. A thanks for your honest response!

Anyone else? This would seem like an important topic, considering the growing popularity of BHTs in general.

Me too, if it is true, it will ruin my plan of using body hair for my first surgery. I don’t want to touch my scalp hair, I want to preserve them for as long as possible. Just a couple hundred body hairs as filler to reinforce my frontal area is all I need.
