FOOLS, ALL OF YOU! (regarding Acell)

» » What happend after this post by “Raptor” and in this moment to ACell?
»
» I see allot of problems as well. For one, I see allot of new guys that
» joined hairsite with a mysterious chip on their shoulder over Acell and
» Willy’s efforts to help this community. Talk about things that make you go
» hmmm .
»
» Having said that, I don’t understand why everyone’s complaining about
» Acell. It was a shot in the dark, and that very fact was fully disclaimed
» by Willy before he vetted a single doctor to test the product.
»
» BUT, If you’re going to complain about Acell than you might as well
» complain about the other biotechs involved in hair treatments. For example,
» what happened to InterCytex (when they were in business), what happened to
» Washenik’s claims of an imminent product from Aderans by 2010. What
» happened to PRP, or Follica’s initial promises? What happened to Dr
» Armani’s magical HM treatment, or TRX2? This is the wonderful world of
» biotech; it’s full of honest and dishonest firms alike; get used to it.

Thanks for the defense Rev. I really don’t understand these people either. Honestly, IDGAF what these guys think anyways. At this point, I’m starting to think that we are more likely to find a cure by “accident” (like Propecia) than the few companies who are working on HM.

Propecia wasn’t an accident. MPB wasn’t the first thing they marketed that drug for, but they had a pretty good idea about the hair effects when they were studying the pseudohermaphrodites.

IMHO we’re never gonna find a cure for MPB by accident simply because mankind has been looking for it for the last zillion years.

I still think some of us could potentially stumble onto it before one of these firms gets something to market though. And the genfiltnib cancer patient accidents have never been replicated yet.

Propecia came out in the 1980’s as a treatment for an enlarged prostate. It wasn’t until the mid-1990’s that Propecia was discovered to work as a remedy for hair loss.

Ditto with Avodart (prostate treatment)

Rogaine was introduced to treat people with high blood pressure.

Ketoconazole (Nizoral) was created as a synthetic antifungal drug used to prevent/ treat skin/ fungal infections

^^ That about sums up the extent of our current arsenal, and not a single one of those products was initially created to treat hairloss. It’s not surprising some of us are hoping to stumble upon another, similar, accident.

On accident you have forgotten to mention: ACell’s MatriStem.

Here you can read yourself the story behind this “accident”:

Yes, but the products I mentioned earlier have-been proven to work. Acell has-yet to redeem itself after Dr Jones’ failed experiment. I’d be more than happy to classify Acell as one of those pleasant accidents… provided they supply us with a working protocol.

I agree about the FDA trials timeline but I don’t think the discovery was very accidental.
