DR Epstein and Acell

Great find!!!

I got a lot of beard hair.

It’s cool that more and more doctors are trying these out. These little experiments are the best way going forward.

But they should use plucked scalp hair not beard hair. Cooley already said he tried both and provided side by side examples of both and scalp hair works better.

Anyways, I think Cooley is the guy who’s ahead of the curve on all of this.

Can you tell us where that information is? If this were true then we already have complete hair restoration available. Sounds too good to be true.

Thanks.

when do you guys think we will see more cases with ACELL being used?

It will be good to see how well this stuff work.

There is a written recap of that presentation available too (part “Clinical examples”:

What I recall is that he compared beard hair results with BODY hair results, and he said the plucked body hair just didn’t grow, whereas the plucked beard hairs did grow. I believe he also mentioned that plucked scalp hairs grew best

Dr Hitzig stated in one of the interviews that after initial attempts with scalp hair were not very successful, he switched to using beard hair. He later advised by Dr. Cooley to give scalp hair another try and in the second run scalp hair seemed to work even better than beard hair. I hope I’m not mistaken with this but thats what i recall having understood.

Cooley did plucked scalp hair vs. plucked beard hair side by side in one case (as in the same person). The photos are in his presentation. The scalp hair side turned out considerably better than the beard hair side.

I think this needs some more testing to really make sure. If the size and strength of the follicle, and the diameter of the hairs, makes any difference – plus the fact that beard hair is never affected by MPB – then I would think that beard hair would actually give the best results in most people.

My own beard hairs are very wide in diameter; the follicles are huge and the hairs are like iron. I would think they’d survive very well when plucked and re-implanted.

Yes, but beard hair is thick, coarse, and curly and so it wouldn’t be as good looking as natural scalp hair
