its believed the cold applied to the scalp will decrease the amount of chemo-radiation that reaches the scalp and thus protect the hair from the radiation. Its been shown to be useful in people who are undergoing chemotherapy, but has not been shown to be useful in people with androgenic alopecia.
If anyone has any convictions that it could be, they should take some before pictures, and apply cold packs to their heads twice a day for a year…but I bet they would come up with nothing.
The thing about chemo hair loss is that for most people, the hair will grow back even if they receive no hair regrowth treatment after chemo.
