when are you planning your next experiment? have you finalized the protocol for this one?

I’m on it. Day 6. I’ll post an update in a few weeks.
Basically, I’m using topical tacrolimus for immunosuppression. This is very safe. Day 4 to 7 I’m using Quercetin topically to inhibit wnt. Day 7 onwards, I’m using a topical of tannic acid, milk thistle, caffeine and lithium orotate mixed in dmso and then dissolved in emu oil.
No prior depilation. I’m currently in the peeling stage.
Like I say, I’ll update in a month if I have any success.
I’m approaching with guarded optimism as I don’t want to get my hopes up.

Good luck buddy!

I’m missing topical gefinitib

That’s great. I think it would be really helpful if you or someone else who is testing the Follica patent to actually take pictures of the wounding cycle (Day 1 through post-scabbing). Hopefully the immunosuppression improves your yield from your first attempt.

I’m considering testing the protocol as well, but after reading a few postings from others in this forum, I’m wondering if I should go the oral route. It seems topical application could “disturb” the re-epilithialization process. I’m also a little nervous ordering some of the drugs online without a prescription, including cyclosporine, tetracycline, loniten (oral minoxidil) and finasteride. Do you have a recommendation?

Good Luck, Baccy.

I am getting ready for my own test but can’t find Lithium Chloride…did you use Lithium Ornate on your first test?? Have you read anything that says Lithium Ornate increases wnt? thanks

My recommendation would have to be do not under any circumstances take cyclosporine. Even doctors only prescribe this as an absolute last resort. It’s serious sh#t and can seriously screw your body up.
I’m aware that topical immunosuppression may compromise the epithelization but applying it topically is a compromise in itself. I’m not going to risk oral administration of an immunosuppressant.
My advice. Don’t do it.

Lithium orotate is what I use and it’s fine and well tolerated by the body. However, it is not as soluble as lithium chloride and so you will need DMSO. It dissolves beautifully in dmso but be careful not to use a lot of dmso as it can make your entire body stink to high heaven.
I’ll be taking a break from these forums effective immediately. I will pop back to update in about a month, hopefully with some results.

Good Luck. I’m a big fan of your cautious approach (in choosing
ingredients and researching and staying within reasonable safety
parameters).

If I remember correctly, the main differences here from your
earlier experiment which showed some results are:

-addition of topical immunosupression with tacrolimus
-addition of tannic acid after day 7

I wish I could do a large-scale experiment like this. I think it’s
pretty likely based on the small-scale sanding experiment I did
originally that if I could repeat on the whole crown area, I’d be
at least half way to what I’d consider pretty good density.

Here’s a description of what I’ve been up to lately:

After my last small attempt with the sanding and milk thistle/LiCl
formulation, I tried a similar small area (around 6 cm^2) with
sanding and depilation, and observed that it takes a really
long time to see anything at all with depilation.

I’ve also started a regimen of approximately bi-weekly needling,
using the 1.5 cm lancet at about 30 channels/cm^2 over the
entire crown area, along with about 8 drops of the milk
thistle/Licl formulation on a bi-daily basis, in addition to
the normal bi-daily minoxidil foam, Nizoral or other
Ketoconazole-based shampoo (along with an array of
vitamins, supplements, and a few other things I’ve picked
out that I’m convinced could be helpful, or at least probably
not harmful).

My previous experiment showed that results with light sanding
are better than with dense needling (300 channels/cm^2) but the
needling was much less obtrusive.

The whole-crown bi-weekly needling that I’ve been doing is much
less dense than the original experiment, but over the whole
area.

I don’t know whether any of the results I’ve seen are actually
due to follicle generation or just to some type of reactivation.

The fact that I’ve been using Propecia for about 11 weeks now
makes it very difficult to tell whether this technique has
really contributed to regrowth. In general, I’m seeing that
the overall crown area which was basically covered by 99.5% unpigmented
vellus hair at the start now contains anywhere from about 5 to 15
pigmented hairs per cm^2, depending on the location. I don’t know
whether these will continue to increase in number or size, and whether
it’s due solely to the Propecia use or whether the needling/milk
thistle/LiCl formulation is contributing. Since I used minoxidil
and the Nizoral for some time before, I’m guessing those were not
the main factors in the current changes.

This is in no way any type of miraculous improvement but it’s certainly
encouraging enough that I’m probably going to keep up the current
regimen to see what happens.

I’d be interested to know if this would be an expected response at
11 weeks to Propecia/minoxidil alone. I expect that this is hard
to tell, and that the expected response varies a lot depending
on many factors.

According to my interpretation of the Propecia publications, you
can expect an improvement of about 90 hairs/in^2 (which seems to
be about 15 hairs/cm^2) over the first year or so on average in
the anterior vertex area. Since I crop my hair pretty short, maybe
I’m already seeing most of the improvement that’s going to occur
from the Propecia. I hope not, but it’s hard to tell how
the data was taken for the research and what was counted as
vellus and non-vellus, etc.

I’d sure like to see these results increase by a factor of 300%
over the next eight months or so, but it’s been interesting up to
this point, anyway. We’ll see what happens…
