The patent (and I think the subsequent ones) mentioned many, many, many variations of the basic principle, with anything from a multitude of drugs to versions where they simply abraded and did nothing else.
I don’t know if anyone tried it - as I said, information is pretty scarce around here, and systematic information even less so. I have never used minoxodil, but I’ll soon go on an online-shopping spree and I might as well order a bottle of the stuff to try for the inevitable continuation of my DIY-tinkering.
