Antibiotics and Probiotics

After hair transplant surgery, you will be given antibiotics. I recommend that after you finish up your antibiotics, you take a trip to the local health food store and pick up a refrigerated bottle of probiotics. When you take antibiotics, it will/should kill all bacteria in your digestive system. Both good and bad. Probiotics will replenish the beneficial bacteria that is supposed to be in your system. If you have been on antibiotics and have symptoms such as gas, constipation, diarrea, nausea or just a general tired ill feeling, you may have a bad strain of bacteria that has overpopulated your digestive system. Often times just eating yogurt or drinking Kefir will not be enough.

Good advice.

What about taking probiotics while on antibiotics? This is what I was planning on doing.

Absolutely. Some antibiotics are non-specific, so they wipe out everything - even the good bacteria. Anything you can do to help regrow the good stuff is helpful.
