Acell Update

I just spoke to Acell and asked them if they have gotten any reports about HT doctors use of the ECM. They said that a doctor has performed HT surgery about a week ago and that they are waiting to get a report from that doctor. If I understood them correctly, that doctor used the material for strip revision and placed the ECM sheet inside of the wound and sutured it up. (It is not H & W that we are talking about). At this point, we are just waiting for the results. We should know something in about a month.

They mentioned that there are five HT doctors who have received shipments of Acell that they knew of. They did mention names…and they were not ALL the same ones who I thought had it. Four out of the five do post on Hairsite (or have reps who do).

Again, I don’t want to get anyones hopes up, but I also want to confirm the fact that our hopes with Acell are not “dead” either.

Now…negative posters…do your thing!

Take Care,
Bill

Is the goal of the doctor to let hair grow

the method you mentioned is useless for us, we want to know if acell will regrow hair after transplant, to do this is necessary to apply acell after a fue transplant, applying acell inside a wound and THEN sutured it, at least will “clear” the scar, useless for an illimited donor… the best goal they can reach now is to clean perfectly the scar…

wiily, do you think they are using ACell to its full capabilities with this method?

» wiily, do you think they are using ACell to its full capabilities with this

Personally…No. I wish that they would remove a small punch graft and apply Acell over the wound to let it heal naturally and see if donor hair is regenerated. Hopefully, when they do a scar revision, they will remove a small amount of donor hair when cutting out the previous strip scar and see if donor hair is regenerated.

I’m sure one of the doctors will actully experiment to see if it regenerated hair also. At least I would assume so. I guess right now, they’re being cautious.

i think this is how acell may be nost effective, hopefully it will be brought up at up the next ishrs meeting, if it works i think many more low norwoods will opt for hts, and alot of us scarred up guys can be helped, thanks

It’s understandable that they want to start small.

This isn’t what most here want them to do, but if it works it’ll mean scar-free strip work. That in itself is a big deal.

8000 grafts from a top clinic with no scar? Yes please.

Willy,
I wonder if maybe it would be possible to send another e-mail to 4 or 5 doctors using this technology regarding how ACell will be used (application, strip, FUE, etc.), as that is very important in terms of our evaluation of ACell’s potential.

» 8000 grafts from a top clinic with no scar? Yes please.

with 8000 graft taken from the neck of your head by a strip transplant you’ll have automatically a lifting.

I agree. That is why I started the Thread about “Possible Testing Methods for Acell”. I wanted to get input from some of the “more scientifically informed” members of the forum about possible testing methods and develop an e-mail to send to HT doctors. I wanted to send it to the same list of doctors who I notified about Acell (there were over 50 doctors on that list). Unfortunately, not many people responded to this post…so I scrapped the idea.

Take Care,
Bill

P.S. If anyone else wants to “restart” this thread and work on developing this e-mail, I would still be interested…but I need some input from members who have a more thorough scientific background than I.

As far as I know, it’s for strip scar revision at this point. I would assume that deep down the doctor is hoping for donor hair regrowth.

Willy what is the differnce between what you offer and the way they are trieng it now? and why do you expect your’e way to have regrowth, and this way no to have ?

Willy did they mention which doctor did it a week ago? This is exciting.

He said that he THOUGHT it was Dr. Jones…they have another guy at Acell in contact with the doctors. The guy that I spoke to had to speak to this other guy to confirm it.

Because this way closes the wound whereas my way would leave the wound open (covered with bandages).
