Acell Released!

I just spoke with Acell and their product is “ready to go”. A few shipments have already been sent out. I know one has been sent to a HT doctor already so we may be seeing some results fairly soon. (HOPEFULLY THE RESULTS WE WANT TO SEE!!!)

They are not making an official announcement yet and it will not be posted on their website. I asked the person at Acell if it would be ok to post this and they said that it would be fine. They are probably not releasing it officially yet because they want to build up more of a stock of the product beforehand.

I am going to put together an e-mail and forward it to Acell just to make sure that I say nothing that is out of line. I will also post it on this site for suggestions from you guys as to anything that I may have missed. I am going to send this e-mail to as many HT doctors as possible and hope that they are willing to try this product. If it works well, they will have no choice. I would suggest that you guys also copy and paste the e-mail to send to as many HT doctors as you can. We could also send it to dermatologists (like the one other forum member already has). The e-mail address that I am going to send to at Acell is:

Acell is a company focused on regenerative medicine. It has had products for Vet. medicine for some time now but has been tied up in legal battles for several years which has postponed bringing to market their products used for human usage. The product that Acell has produced is called an extracellular matrix and can be purchased in two forms…a sheet form and a powder form. Another forum member originally brought this product to the attention of the forum, I’m pretty sure his name was WESB. I was intrigued by the pictures so I contacted the company and found them to be very receptive to discussing their product. Although the Acell matrix was not designed with the purpose of regenerating human hair, it does appear to have the capabilities to do so. When I discussed this with the people at Acell, they felt confident that it would regenerate the TISSUE AND HAIR removed from the donor area…thus offering a LIMITLESS DONOR SUPPLY. Of course, at this point, it is just in theory. Hopefully, now that the product is on the market and HT doctors have already been sent shipments, we will see positive results fairly soon! Keep your fingers crossed!!!

Here are some pictures of the results of Acell:

Yep, it’s out. They actually were making the human grade stuff several years back but had to cease production because of the litigation by Purdue and a pharma (forgot the name) company. Last year when I spoke to them, right after all suits had been settled in their favor, I was told it would be about a year before they were able to ramp up production. They’re right on time

Please help form the stock e-mail that will be sent to HT doctors about Acell. I started it on a new thread so hopefully, that thread will only pertain to revisions about the e-mail. Once revisions are made, I will send a finalized version to Acell to make sure that nothing is “out of line” and if everthing is ok, I will start sending it to as many HT doctors as possible. I would suggest that you copy it and do the same.

I am quite confident that it won’t work and hopefully I am wrong. On the upside I am even more confident that it would not do any harm to the healing donor area. I am a senior Biochemist but I do not specialise in this area.

Marco what makes you think that it won’t work? What exactly is the powder, are they really safe to use?

Bill, Thanks for doing all the leg work thus far. Hopefully some of our more popular HT clinics on this forum will take up the call and experiment with this product.

thanks as well bill for all your effort, i think we only need a couple of docs to try this out initially, if it works as well as we hope it will sell itself via word of mouth and even the next ishrs meeting, i think you should keep it short and to the point, tell them this product may enable a totally scarless procedure

It is mainly proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans which are all negatively charged sugars. They do hold onto other proteins that relate to or “seed” healing. I am a bit older than a few of you and I remember one of the major cosmetic firms (lorielle or one of those) sold muco-polysacharides which are essentially the same thing as a hair growth stimulant. It is a good protector and has similar features to “fibrin glue” used for sport injuries and in surgery. I just can’t see that some “majic” has been added to this approach but as I say, I might be wrong. Onr thing is for sure, if it works then it is not the extracellular matrix, it is a protein that is held to the matrix in the pigs blader. If that were true then I would have expected a competent pharma biochemist team to identify the component by fractionation. I must emphasize the waiver that I am not an expert or actively working in this area although I did 15 years ago.

Marco,

You obviously know MUCH more about the science behind this than I do but I will tell you that they told me (over the phone) that the Acell material contains five growth factors. I didn’t ask any more details about the growth factors. I didn’t think that they would tell me if I did and I wouldn’t understand it anyways.

Bill

I know that a couple of HT clinics did order (and have been shipped) Acell already. I know that at least one of the clinics does post on this forum. I don’t want to post any names because I don’t want anyone upset with me. Trust me, they will post the results (especially if they’re good).

Thanks Bill, I said I didn’t think it would work. I usually get it right when I have done my research (and I haven’t really on this one)but I have got it wrong before on occasions so fingers crossed:-)

Keep up the good work.

Thanks, that’s what we need to do. At this point, that’s all we can do.

The website says the human use product is not released yet.

» The website says the human use product is not released yet.

It’s definately been released and I know of at least two HT doctors who have been sent shipments. It doesn’t say that it’s been released on the website yet because they haven’t “officially” released the product yet. They are waiting to make an official announcment on their website (in about a month) to build more stock of the product.

I’ve spoken with them on several ocassions and since it’s been released.

Will be interesting. I will ask my doctor to use it for beard hair extractions in the powder form. Will be easier to follow up in the beard then the scalp.

Cool. Dr. Arvind has always been interested in providing a better donor supply to his patients and stays very much “on top” of emerging technology in the field. I have a pretty good feeling that he would be receptive to trying this. Please keep us posted.

Thanks,
Bill

If it works, are doctors able to use it right away or do they need to apply to use it on patients? Like FDA approval or something.

So what is the thought behind using this for hair transplantation, you do a strip procedure and then use this product on the removed strip area and hope it regenerates the removed scalp and hair? I don’t know how many people would be willing to walk around with a portion of their skull exposed, that sounds horrible.

Or are they hoping that they can use it to generate hair another way?
