Just Started Generic Avodart (Dutasteride) 2.5mg Daily

I’ve finally received my batch of generic avodart. On Dec. 4, '08 I started Dutasteride 2.5mg daily (5 caps). I had a whole line of treatments to take with it including gingko biloba, vitamins, and all sworts of other goodies. However, I delayed everything else so that if I get any results, good or bad, I would know where they came from.

So far my erections have been super better since the second day. I know this for a fact. Don’t notice any other side effects as of yet. I plan on taking 2.5mg daily for atleast 2 week and then drop to 0.5mg daily with an addition of 2.5mg finasteride. Why? Because 2.5mg of dutasteride have been shown in the clinical trials to provide the best effects stopping 98% of DHT. However, 2.5mg of dut daily wil burn a whole in your pocket. TOO EXPENSIVE. So, being that finasteride and dutasteride share similar properties in make-up, taking 2.5mg of fin with 0.5mg of dutasteride will save me tons of money and provide better results than 0.5 mg of dut alone.

If side effects are noted then I will drop 2.5mg to 0.5mg+fin. If side effects are still noted, then I will drop to just 0.5mg of dut. However, I will take into consideration that dut hair growth are usualy shown post 1 yr mark. Therefore, I will not stop because of shedding or anything else.

Will eventually add to my regime:

Nioxin nightly
Reg. Shampoo mornings
5% minox (nightly only)
Multi-vitamins
Biotin
Saw Pametto
Gingko Biloba

Will keep everyone posted very frequently.

By the way… I will also be getting a hair transplant with dr Alvi Armani (FUE) in March of 2009. And will continue with the above regime thereafter.

Feel Free to ask any questions.

That is not true, finasteride inhibits type II and dutasteride inhibitis both type I and II. They are not really the same.

No they’re not. Finasteride inhibits type II and dut inhibits type I AND II. Which makes it similar. Not the Same. And that’s what I said… they are SIMILAR. Thanks for the clarification I should have been more specific.

I also want to add something else. At first I thought it was too early in the game to make the speculation, but it’s too much of a coincidence especially 2 times a day.

Today is the 3rd day on dut. yesterday and today I had intercourse with my girlfriend twice each day. Not only were the erections much harder, but I also noticed that 3 out of the 4 times I came, I shot my cum a few feet ahead. Way over and passed my girl’s head (military style).

Pardon me if this sounds too vulgar but I didn’t know of any other way of putting it.

is this the peak and a sudden downfall afterwards? we’ll find out…

whoa whoa whoa TMI !!! for a second I thought I just logged into a porn site.

I haven’t been to the gym nor have I engaged in any out-of-the-ordinary physcical activity, but I was feeling muscle and/or joint pain in my lower back, knees, thighs, shoulders, finger joints, and hips all throughout the entire night last night up until now.
After taking advil this morning it has wore off.

I don’t know if this is related to my dut as I have never heard of anyone make such claims from the use of dut as what i’m claiming.

since yeesterday my coordination is pretty much f*cked. Considering that i have an excellent eye and great coordination and have a 2 yr degree in architectural drafting, this is taking a toll on me. For example, i’ll try to put a spoon of sugar in my cup but i’ll tip it over and hit the rim of the cup and the sugar is everywhere. happened more than twice. my car has gps and when i attempt to touch the screen i have to do it slowly to make sure i dont touch the wrong part/area.

has anyone else experienced anything like this from dut? or anything like this without dut form out of the blue one day?

stay tuned…(crossed fingers)…

with 2.5mg a day you are almost sure to have some issues : brain fog, less motivation, and of course a lot less libido.
this will happen in a few days or weeks, even though the first days might seem like a rollercoster ride of libido.

in addition, your regimen does nothing against the issue of testosterone binding direclty to the androgen receptors, which does also trigger some hairloss, besides what DHT does. In fact, this much DUT raises testosterone by 30% or even more, which might explain the initial libido jump.

Since you seem to be the kind of guy not too scared by side effects, I’d suggest adding topical flutamide to your regimen. you don’t need to use a lot of it and mostly at the hairline. You can then reduce your dut amount to 0.5mg a day. this combo will get you in a much better position hair-wise than a lot of DUT alone, and with less side effects overall.

Topical flutamide can potentailly produce the same type of strong androgenic side effects like DUT, but since it is used topically in very small amounts and also has a very short half life of about 7 hours in blood, you can “manage” the side effects a lot easier than using oral DUT with its long- serum half life.

El Dut I’ve read may of your posts on forums and appreciate your input.

If I reduce to 0.5mg and add finasteride, will that make differene in terms of side effects and/or results?

I never heard of Topical Flutamide. I have, however, had great results with 5% minox. (i use up a bottle in 2 weeks and less) but i can’t stand the ess it leaves behind. Is Flutamide just as messy?

Fluridil, a rationally designed topical agent for androgenetic alopecia: first clinical experience.

Sovak M, Seligson AL, Kucerova R, Bienova M, Hajduch M, Bucek M.

Radiology Research, University of California, San Diego, California, USA. msovak@ucsd.edu

BACKGROUND:
Fluridil, a novel topical antiandrogen, suppresses the human androgen receptor. While highly hydrophobic and hydrolytically degradable, it is systemically nonresorbable. In animals, fluridil demonstrated high local and general tolerance.

OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a topical anti- androgen, fluridil, in male androgenetic alopecia.

METHODS:
In 20 men, for 21 days, occlusive forearm patches with 2, 4, and 6% fluridil, isopropanol, and/or vaseline were applied. In 43 men with androgenetic alopecia (AGA), Norwood grade II-Va, 2% fluridil was evaluated in a double-blind, placebo-controlled study after 3 months clinically by phototrichograms, hematology, and blood chemistry including analysis for fluridil, and at 9 months by phototrichograms.

RESULTS:
Neither fluridil nor isopropanol showed sensitization/irritation potential, unlike vaseline. In all AGA subjects, baseline anagen/telogen counts were equal. After 3 months, the average anagen percentage did not change in placebo subjects, but increased in fluridil subjects from 76% to 85%, and at 9 months to 87%. In former placebo subjects, fluridil increased the anagen percentage after 6 months from 76% to 85%. Sexual functions, libido, hematology, and blood chemistry values were normal throughout, except that at 3 months, in the spring, serum testosterone increased within the normal range equally in placebo and fluridil groups. No fluridil or its decomposition product, BP-34, was detectable in the serum at 0, 3, or 90 days.

CONCLUSION:
Topical fluridil is nonirritating, nonsensitizing, nonresorbable, devoid of systemic activity, and anagen promoting after daily use in most AGA males.

I haven’t heard of this till recently but it doesn’t seem as if many people are talking about it.

Very informative stuff. Will definetly be doing research on it and loking into using it.

just to clear some confusion, we have Fluridil and Flutamide…two completely different drugs but both work for hairloos.

Flurdil, as per the study report pasted, is a molecule that has been developped to inhibit androgen recpetors and have no side effects at all.
I use it and it brings some benefits to my combo, without adding side effects.

Flutamide, is a prostate cancer drug that has been “hijacked” for hairloss application because it works by blocking the androgen receptor. It works like RU58841 but for a fraction of the cost.I also use this, and RU.

Adding finasteride to DUT makes no sense, DUT at 0.5mg daily alredy reduces DHT a lot more than FIN at 1mg daily.

Minox is a growth promoter that will not really stop hairloss in the long term because it does not address the androgenic issues of androgenic alopecia.
I never used it myself.

I use a combo of oral DUT 3 times a week, topical fluridil and topical RU58841/flutamide

 Yes I have read the posts and thank u both. I’m researching both flur & flut.

El_Dut I have some questions headed towards ure way soon if I dont find the answers in ym research

Update:

Today it was hard for me to get out of bed. But I went to crash again in the evening and even though the sleep was enough-I just didn’t feel like getting up.

Yesterday after reading come of your comments I dropped to 0.5mg and will not be taking fin with it.

Today and yesterday night I had constant trouble remembering things, like a word would be on the tip of my tongue but just can’t get it out. I would make note to myself for later and totally forget about it. When I read I’m not focused.

A quick question for those who are well informed or experienced users of dutateride… Is it possible for Dutasteride to cause depression? Can dut have someone think negative or be pesimistic?

Still researching on the other products and trying to learn where and how to get them, how to use them and monthly cost.

Chime in guys, better you read it before you use it.

El Dut,

Which is more powerful, fluridil or flutamide?

Fluridil (Eucapil) states it has no sides, but I’m assuming if you stop you’ll lose what you gained? And how much does it cost for a month’s supply?

I sent an online doc a question a long time ago (forgot the damn email and website address), for $5, and asked if it was okay to take enerdisia with dutasteride and he replied no it’s not okay (which made no sence to me). Will it be safe to take fluradil/flutamide with enerdisia?

These treatments become so exensive! Especially when your taking body building supplements too Grrr…!

It is now two weeks since starting dutasteride. Initially I started off with 2.5mg daily for the first week and dropped to 0.5mg. And added minox 5 % last nigh (been off it for a few months).

On 2.5mg the sides were pretty bad (read previous posts).

Today is the first day I noticed my hair coming out so litle I can actually count them in the shower (15-20?). Previous to dut my hair would come out so much I had to remove my hair from the drain, make a ball of it and toss it in the garbage. If I would guess, it was probably about 200 hair a day. When waking in the morning my pillow and t-shirt would be covered with my hair.

It’s now decreasing dramatically. I will note however that I have been extremely sleepy and drowsy throughout the day. Not sure if this is a side effect from dut or not. I’ll increase my coffee from 3 cups to 5 cups a day.

For the first time in a long time I grabbed a mirror, put aside my fears, went to the washroom and took a good look at my crown. It’s horrible. It’s about the size of a softball and the only coverage I’m getting on it is combing my hair back from the top of my head to cover it a little. Had no idea it was that bad. Really depressing. :frowning:

Today my hair shedding seemed to have come to a halt. Washed my hair and no hair came out except maybe 5-10 strands.

I really hope dut + minox kicks in quick and brings my crown back. If not I will opt for a future hair transplant for my vertex and crown.

No sexual sides noted thus far from dut. I do feel a little bit “out of touch” lately. I feel like I’m not as outgoing, outspoken, or energetic a I should be. Feel sleepy all day long. Not sure if that’s a Dut side effect.
